VOLUNTEER TRAINING
We strongly encourage new Bigs to come to a volunteer training session before they are matched. At the trainings we discuss BBBSGS policies and procedures which can be very helpful to new Bigs and even veteran Bigs! All Bigs should attend a training once a year to refresh on policies and procedures.

Trainings are held the 1st and 3rd MONDAYS of each month at the BBBSGS office from 6-7:15 p.m.

MATCH ACTIVITY IDEAS
Go for a walk, build something, work on a school project, try a new craft, visit a museum, check out a local college campus, volunteer together, watch a Patriots game, cook, bake, go to a UNH sports game, visit the SPCA, play outside, visit a local library or book store, visit a coffee shop, play card/board games, walk around a downtown, hang at the mall, watch a holiday parade, make a scrapbook, take photos, check out local community festivals and events, attend a local or high school sporting event, decorate cookies, make homemade pizza, make holiday gifts or cards, watch a Celtics game, or ATTEND A BBBSGS ACTIVITY.

Check out your local Home Depot. Once a month they offer a free how-to clinic for all ages. We have heard that these are really fun!

MATCH TIPS
Having trouble thinking of activity ideas? We encourage Bigs and Littles to sit down together and brainstorm ideas of free and cheap activities! Try something new! Volunteer together, check out the United Way website for volunteer opportunities. Check out our calendar of events! Always feel free to ask us for suggestions also!

High risk activities require a permission form. This form can be downloaded here from our website and mailed or faxed to us. Examples of high risk activities include: boating, motorcycling, 4-wheeling, horseback riding, swimming in some cases, plane rides and jet-skiing.

Six month sleepover policy reminder: Please remember that matches need to wait six months before they have a sleepover. There must be two adults present and a permission form needs to be sent into us prior to the sleepover. The permission form can be downloaded here from our website!

Parents/Guardians or a responsible adult should always be home for pick-ups and drop-offs of Littles who are younger that 13-14. Bigs and Parents should always schedule and confirm match plans, no matter what age the Little is because parents should approve all activities and know what the plans are for outings.

THE BBBSGS BLOG
Visit the BBBSGS Blog: "Spending Time; A guide to great activities for kids and adults." This blog is a shared list of great activities and fun stuff to do in and around the Greater Seacoast in NH. Staff at BBBSGS regularly update the blog with new fun stuff. We also enjoy input from local Bigs, Littles and Moms and Dads across our area. This Blog has been a great addition to local resources for our kids. Contribute your ideas and experience while learning from others in our area.

MEN IN MENTORING
Right now over 80 percent of the children on our waitlist are boys. Men in Mentoring is our campaign to match these boys with a caring male mentor, because "molding a boy is easier than mending a man." Please visit our Men in Mentoring resource page for more information. We need you to get involved!

FREE AND REDUCED LIST
BBBSGS keeps an ongoing list of Free and Reduced activities across our region. Many local businesses- including restaurants, book stores, and museums- offer great reductions and deals for our Bigs and Littles.

FORMS
Need a release form for an activity? Anytime you and your Little engage in activities with any risk (for example: boating, skiing, canoeing etc.) we encourage you to get a release form from your Little's parent. You may download these forms and simply add the information for your particular activity.

Overnights are not allowed in the first six months of your relationship. After six months community based matches (as opposed to school based) may consider an overnight; however, we strongly recommend against such visits. We suggest that overnight visits occur only in very special circumstances. Any time you consider this activity you must contact your support staff at BBBSGS, review the Overnight Policy and use the Overnight Release Form.
